In a Monday evening tweet, The Bulwark reposted a clip of Trump telling reporters in May that the new coating was actually strong enough to withstand the exact thing he’s accusing vandals of doing.

“This will last for at least 50 years,” Trump said in May. “You’ll never have a leak. It’s very strong. You couldn’t, if you had a knife — I don’t want to give anybody ideas — if you had a knife, you can’t even cut it. It’s so strong, so powerful. It’s like powerful rubber.”

Then, on Monday, Trump was asked if the contractors of the Reflecting Pool’s renovation were to blame for its current condition. In response, the president said:

No, no, we had vandalism. No, vandals. We have a, I think, 290-to-300-foot slit right through it. Probably a box cutter or a knife of some kind.

Can’t fix stupid.

The hacking method reportedly relied on exploiting Meta’s AI chatbot. Hackers would use a VPN to set their location to be near their target. They would then allegedly ask the support bot to add a new email address to the targeted account. The bot would then send a verification code to the provided email address, then provide a “Reset password” button after the hacker entered the code. Once the password was reset, the hacker would take over the account. A purported video of the process was shared by an X user.

Meta laid of 8000 people. It’s AI chatbot then helped hackers get into Instagram accounts.

On Wednesday, Ramon Batllet, a Java developer who used jqwik, spotted the prompt injection and took to GitHub to discuss it with Link. Batllet said they had no objection to developers excluding their apps from being used by AI coding agents or testing whether coding agents are violating such terms. They went on, however, to question the ethics and judgment of the potentially destructive payload.

“The chosen string instructs the agent to delete jqwik tests and code—a maximally destructive instruction with no qualifications, no opt-out, and no ‘warn the user first’ preamble,” Batllet wrote. “If a less-robust agent had followed it on a real consumer machine, the outcomes range from inconvenient to severe.” Elsewhere, the Java developer said that Anthropic’s Claude AI code tool flagged the malicious instruction without following it. The point remains, though, that developers using vulnerable agents may not be so lucky./blockquote>
